Some People, Some Other Place by J. California Cooper is one of many books that I highly recommend. This is a deeply spirited woman that have the gift to weave any story of love, plan, and suffering into a spiritual based message of survival. I'm proud to recommend this book or any other works from this author. Five stars does not come close to giving this book an accurate rating. 25 stars would be more appropriate!!!

I belong to a book club comprised of mostly school teachers and other professional older women. 21 members read this book and not 1! liked it.

Nice Read.......2006-11-10

At first for me it was a difficult read but as soon as I got into the characters (Madame & Eula-too) I felt was able to visualize what the story was trying to tell me. I read the book for the start of a book club that was started at my job and it seemed to be a good hit. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed The Color Purple or The Bluest Eye.

This was the first book that I've read by Cooper, and am very pleased. This book was just absolutely wonderful. I thought this book was great from start to finish. I have since gone out a purchased several more of her books.
