Wonderful Read.......2001-12-30
My 8 year old had this book on her school reading list. She loved it and has read it many times. She thought it was really funny and loved the part about the gummy worms on the pizza. Any book that gets a child to read is all right with me.
Its Funny.......2000-03-29
I read this book in my second grade class. This is a funny book. Even Steven likes everything even. Odd Todd likes everything odd. For example, Even Steven would like 8 pancakes and Odd Todd would like 7 pancakes. Even Steven goes through hard work with Odd Todd. Then, Even Steven notices that odd and even are both good. My favorite part was when Odd Todd and Even Steven win their $50 prize.

Book Description
Cousin Henry, first published in 1879, is perhaps the most unusual and intriguing of Trollope's shorter novels. Trollope's masterly handling of the novel's unlikely hero, a tiresome and timid coward, is notable for its insight and compassion.
Customer Reviews:
One of Trollope's best.......2000-01-05
Browsing in a bookstore, I read a blurb of this book that told every secret twist of its plot. I was enraged, but read 'Cousin Henry' anyway. It was superb, and illustrates perfectly Trollope's own philosophy, given in 'Barchester Towers,' that a good book will not suffer even from the reader knowing what happens. 'Cousin Henry' has other, and considerable, merits, than suspensefulness--although it is suspenseful. It has been called the most psychologically probing of Trollope's works; indeed, Trollope himself thought it to be so, and was very proud of it. The plot, in brief, and without giving anything away, is this: Cousin Henry is the heir of the Squire of Llanfeare--according to the will everyone knows about. But Henry knows of another, later, will, that disinherits him. Most of the book concerns Henry's agonizing over whether or not to make this will public. There is also another plot thread, concerning the Squire's daughter, Isabel, who can only marry if her husband is willing to take her last name (shades of 'Cecilia'). I'll say it again: one of Trollope's best.

Customer Reviews:
Another Great Henry and Mudge Book!.......2007-05-11
My 1st grader just loves Henry and Mudge books. They are "chapter" books-- and not "baby" books. But, they are easy to read. (Easier than Magic Tree House, for example.) Plus, this series appeals to both boys and girls (but especially boys).
This book deals with learning to be around people who are different from you. In this case, Henry learns to deal with, and actually have fun with, a somewhat prissy cousin. I love how the book tackles the important concept of enjoying people who are different from you without introducing the disturbing idea of racial prejudice and other adult-type prejudices to young children (who are not prejudice to begin with!)
Note: you might want to purchase Henry And Mudge First Book before this book or with this book. It introduces the characters used in the rest of the series.
Enjoy!

The Careful Cousin.......2000-04-13
Both of my sons enjoy the Henry and Mudge series. In this installment, Henry's cousin Annie comes for a visit, but finding a common ground is not so easy. With some effort, and a little help from Mudge, Henry and Annie work it all out and have some fun along the way.

Book Description
In Henry and Mudge's eighteenth adventure, Henry's cousin Annie is moving -- right next door to Henry! Annie likes Henry and Mudge, but she's nervous about leaving her friends, and about changing schools, and about what might happen to her things on the moving truck. She's so nervous she's broken out in blotches. But Henry knows just the thing for a bad case of nerves -- a snuggle under a blanket with a big dog like Mudge!

A 9-year old from North Bend, WA.......2000-05-03
I give it a rating of three stars because it reminded me ofwhen I went to a baseball game and I saw a dog that looked just likeMudge. I like it a lot because it has good word choice and at the endyou don't know what is going to happen next. And what I didn't like was it didn't have action. I recommend this book to any age.

Book Description
Cousin Annie loves
Henry's big dog Mudge
so much that she wishes
for a pet of her own.
But what kind of pet
should Annie get?
A crab would be too hard.
A turtle would be too wet.
And a bird might fly into
her teacup collection.
What Annie needs is a pet
that's soft and dry and
doesn't fly -- one that's quiet
and careful, just like Annie.
Customer Reviews:
Cute story.......2001-06-19
Actually, I haven't read this book---my daughter did. To me. Shes a beginning reader and did quite well. She was able to enjoy the story and read it capably---which says something, I think, about the excellent quality of the author. The illustrations were fun, too. Henry's cousin, Annie, "deserves" a nice pet. Search out the perfect pet for her with Henry and his parents.
Henry and Mudge and Annie's Perfect Pet.......2000-06-20
My name is Morgan ...... and I am six years old. I have read all of the Henry and Mudge books and this one is my all time favorite. I am a big pet fan and Annie finding the perfect pet (she got to choose from a bunch) made me very happy. I could not wait to turn the pages and find out which pet Annie would pick. I was very happy that she choose the cute white bunny. Henry and Mudge books are the best! And my mom loves them too!

Book Description
From my window, above, I saw them leave the door; they make a fair, bright young couple as they sit together. They had not been gone a quarter of an hour when Mr. Caliph's name was brought up to me. He had asked for me--me alone; he begged that I would do him the favour to see him for ten minutes. I don't know why this announcement should have made me nervous; but it did. My heart beat at the prospect of entering into direct relations with Mr. Caliph. He is very clever, much thought of, and talked of; and yet I had vaguely suspected him--of I don't know what!
