Book Description
The last of the Richard Bachman novels, recently recovered and published for the first time. Stephen King's "dark half" may have saved the best for last.
A fellow named Richard Bachman wrote Blaze in 1973 on an Olivetti typewriter, then turned the machine over to Stephen King, who used it to write Carrie. Bachman died in 1985 ("cancer of the pseudonym"), but in late 2006 King found the original typescript of Blaze among his papers at the University of Maine's Fogler Library ("How did this get here?!"), and decided that with a little revision it ought to be published.
Blaze is the story of Clayton Blaisdell, Jr. -- of the crimes committed against him and the crimes he commits, including his last, the kidnapping of a baby heir worth millions. Blaze has been a slow thinker since childhood, when his father threw him down the stairs -- and then threw him down again. After escaping an abusive institution for boys when he was a teenager, Blaze hooks up with George, a seasoned criminal who thinks he has all the answers. But then George is killed, and Blaze, though haunted by his partner, is on his own.
He becomes one of the most sympathetic criminals in all of literature. This is a crime story of surprising strength and sadness, with a suspenseful current sustained by the classic workings of fate and character -- as taut and riveting as Stephen King's The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Good kick off to Summer Reading.......2007-06-28
"Blaze" is a pretty good story, whether it's a "trunk" novel or not. What I like best about Stephen King's novels is the way he makes his characters come alive. Think back to "The Stand" or "It" and the reason those novels work so well, is that as a reader you form an emotional attachment to the protagonists. Richard Bachman's novels are usually a darker and driven by a situation rather than by character. If you think of the novel's written under the Bachman name, "Thinner" for example. You never really like the protagonist of the novel. He is a cheating murderer, but you follow the story through to see what the outcome of the situation is. "Blaze" actually combines King's two styles, in that you have a character you come to like and sympathize with, placed into a dark situation. You will start pulling for Blaze, but by the 10th page, you just know how this book has to end. I'm not sure why King tacked the short story "Memory" on the back of "Blaze"? "Memory" isn't a bad story, but it feels like it's just a small part of a larger book. Almost like lifting a chapter or two out of "Insomnia" and planting it onto the end of another novel.
Ahh...A Rose By Any Other Name.......2007-06-28
It doesn't matter if the jacket name is Richard Bachman or Stephen King, when you open the book, you will be reading the work of one of the finest writers of our time. (What a curse to be so talented and productive that you'd have to use two names!)
I found this book to be one heck of a good ride, and the age of the material added a welcome bit of nostalgia.
King's (sorry, Bachman's) book tells the story of a man you can both hate and pity simultaneously. The story reels you in early and keeps you there until the end, as is customary when you read the King's work.
Buy this book - read this book. You will be glad you did!

Great "trunk" novel.......2007-06-26
First of all, like millions of other people I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. I'm always anxious for his new releases and I'm always there on the first day they come out. When I heard that he was releasing Blaze 30 years after he wrote it I was so excited because I have heard a lot about this book for awhile on several websites and have always wanted it in my hands. When I finally had it and started to read it I was drawn into the story. The story is so vivid and real it feels like I was walking right beside Blaze as you follow him in the big kidnapping heist to the flashbacks that reveal his very dark and sad past. King has such a great ability to make you feel for the characters and Blaze, although a sort of bad guy in the story, you still cannot help but pity the guy. It is a sort of tearjerker sort of book as King explains in the forward but I found it also very disturbing in some parts. It will maybe bring a few tears to your eyes but it will also send the chills down your spine and you might find yourself stopping sometimes just to let out a deep breath of shock. I thought his dead partner George talking to him and being a sort of guide to him was brilliant. I also think this is the best Bachman book he has written. I have read several reviews on here where people are saying the book wasn't his best but it was alright. I don't think those people are coming for the story, I think they are coming to read his life long masterpiece or something. Its all in the story and if you like a good story that will keep you turning those pages to see what happens next I would defienetly recommend this book to you. Pick it up!
Terrific story!.......2007-06-26
I read this one in just about one sitting. (the family wanted me to make them dinner...can you imagine?) I wanted to continue listening to Blaze's story, both present and past. Bachman (King) has such a wonderful way with characterizations that you feel like you know them. George's voice is well done, too. At first you wonder if Blaze is being haunted by his pal, now gone because of a crap game gone wrong. They've spent years together, working one con or another, waiting for one another if one ended up behind bars.
George's big idea of the one big con to retire on is to kidnap a baby. George is gone, but the plan remains, and Blaze sets out to accomplish on his own what they had planned to do together.
Because of an abusive childhood, Blaze is a little on the slow side and this made me feel for him and let me accept his criminal life just a little bit easier. Why is that, do you suppose?
Anyway, check this one out for yourself. It just proves what we've always known: that no matter what name King writes under, he deserves recognition for the gift he gives us in his storytelling. Thanks, Mr King. I LOVED the story!

Best Horse Book Ever!.......2007-05-19
This is an excellent book and very well-written. It is perfect for any fan of medieval times or the crusades. Not only that, it is the best horse book I have ever read! The characters are well-developed and deep, and their actions make sense within their usual behavior. A wonderful finalization of the de Granville trilogy! I LOVE this book and was so surprised that it seems so few people have read it! Please, if you like to read, you should read this series, starting with book one; the Blood Red Horse!

Customer Reviews:
I love this book!.......2003-09-01
This was the first book I read by Bertrice Small, I was 16 at the time. Now, nearly 15 years later, I am still a huge fan of hers, and have all the books she has written. This book was so good, it got me 'addicted' to her writing. This book has great historical detail, and is written so well you can visualize the things you are reading about. If you haven't read anything by Bertrice Small, this is a great start. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes historical romance!
What about Delight?.......2003-01-28
Am I the only reader who thought that Delight's punishment wasn't severe enough? (Spoilers)She plotted to kill her sister, with no remorse, and she didn't even get a slap on the wrist! Everyone felt sorry for her and she even gets to marry a wonderful guy! If I were Blaze, I would beat her black and blue! Other than that, I really enjoyed the book, as I do all Small's books.
I love a good romance.......2002-11-27
This should have been a great story, but I don't enjoy reading about 30-40 year men who marry children. It may have been the norm in the era but, it is not romantic to me. Blaze was a great character however, I don't believe that a fifteen girl (which is how old Blaze is when she marries Edmund) could come off sounding so more mature no matter the time period or circumstances. Another thing that disturbed me was the language. A seven year old [is using bad language]. I'm appalled by this language. I wonder if this word was used then. I prefer romance between two people who are at least in the proximity of the same age because it is more believable.
One Of Small's Few Outstanding Heroines.......2002-11-05
This novel is character driven by the title leading lady. She's a woman of principle and of honor, a woman who really knows how to love and the pain loving can sometimes bring. I like Blaze better than Small's other heroines specifically because she's a simple country woman doing what she has to do and meeting her obligations without hesitation. Blaze finds adventure without becoming a pirate or being abducted into a harem--she's not unlike someone the reader might actually know in real life. Find this one if you can. It's worth the search.
An OK Tudor-era romance.......2002-08-05
_Blaze Wyndham_ tells the story of a young girl growing up in Tudor England. She and her huge family of little sisters have little hope of marriage, since her parents are too poor to dower even one of them, let alone the others. But word of her mother's fecundity has reached widower Edmund Wyndham, whose first wife died in the birth of a stillborn child after fifteen years of barrenness. Edmund needs an heir, and he needs a healthy and fertile wife to get one. He offers to marry Blaze without a dowry, and provide marriage portions to her sisters as well. The young girl objects, but decided to marry him to help her sisters. She soon falls in love with her kind and sexy husband, but she's not so sure about arrogant Anthony, his nephew, with whom she constantly bickers in that way that is shorthand for "Look out! Chemistry ahead!" Mostly comfortable in her new life, Blaze bears a daughter. Unfortunately, Edmund dies, Blaze blames Anthony for the accident that killed him, and Blaze's sister recommends that Blaze go to the royal court for a time to forget her pain. Instead, she gets blackmailed into being Henry VIII's mistress, then is cast aside when he falls for Anne Boleyn. Not wanting to leave Blaze helpless, the King wants to make a good marriage for her--and the perfect candidate is good old Anthony. She still hates him for causing Edmund's accident; he is angry at her for sleeping with the King, but the monarch's word is law, and they marry. The rest of the book tells the story of how these two people learn to get along, clear up all the misunderstandings, and love each other.
_Blaze Wyndham_ is basically a good story, but there were a couple of things about it I didn't like. First of all, I hated the scene where Blaze viciously tells off her little daughter over a matter of bad embroidery. This doesn't sit well with the kindly Blaze we see throughout the rest of the book. Also, during her marriage to Anthony, there is a subplot involving a teenage villainess, which doesn't seem to serve much purpose except to add pages. It could have been done without.
If you liked this book, and want to read other novels set in the reign of Henry VIII, I recommend Anne Merton Abbey's _Kathryn_ for a more compelling romance, or Philippa Gregory's _The Other Boleyn Girl_ for a darker look at the court.

Two years ago, firefighter Daniel McGee was killed in a warehouse-turned-nightclub fire that has never been solved. He left behind his fiance, fellow firefighter Tess Gannon, his last words over the radio he carried telling her that he loved her and that the years they'd spent together were the best of his life. Now she's a member of the fire police, a virtual fireman type cop who investigates the cause of fires, and Danny's death still haunts her-especially now that an arsonist calling himself The Flamemaster is setting fires around the town of Somersett , South Carolina , and sending letters to the local newspaper threatening more fires.
At the scene of a burned down apartment building, Tess is brought face to face with Gage O'Halloran, a man dressed in jeans and cowboy boots, talking with a distinct western drawl, calling her sweetheart. Tess is soon taken to task, however, when O'Halloran flashes his ATF badge at her. Now there's two fire investigators on the scene, one from ATF and one from the FBI. Gage, though, knows better than most what type of pyromaniac they're after-he's pretty sure that Somersett's Flamemaster is connected to an arsonist serial killer who murdered his own wife.
Now Tess and Gage are facing an arsonist who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. As Tess realizes she needs to face her past and the loss of Danny, Gage discovers that attempting to keep his heart out of his feelings with Tess isn't as easy as he'd thought it would be. A killer stalks closer and closer, and an attraction grows as big as the fires they both try to prevent. For Tess and Gage, finding out who the copycat arsonist-and murderer-is before it's too late is their combined goal.
JoAnn Ross has written another winning romantic suspense tale, with a backdrop of fire and murder. Tess still isn't completely over the loss of Danny, and Gage hasn't come to terms with the death of his wife. His laid-back, alpha cowboy attitude grates on Tess's nerves at first, and Tess's inability to focus on anything except her job drives Gage crazy. As these two fight the passion that burns between them, they never lose sight of their real goal-caching the lunatic who is setting fires all over town, causing death and destruction. But once the danger is over and the threat has passed, will the feelings that Tess and Gage felt for each other during a time of high-adrenaline be able to last?
You'll have to read BLAZE to find out, but it's definitely worth it!
Fast paced suspense with romance thrown in.......2006-11-08
After Tess Gannon is thrown out of a burning building and looses her fiancé to the same fire she decides to change her career path. She has decided that being a "fire cop" aka a Fire Investigation Marshall is where her talents are best used. After 2 years she and her partner have the highest percentage of closed cases in the county.
Gage O'Halloran is a widower who lost his spouse to a horrific arsonist who targeted Gage specifically. He took an extended leave from the ATF after the trial that convicted this killer/arsonist.
When Gage's former partner brings him a copy of a recent arson case that Tess is working on he is immediately struck by the signature being the same as the "Flamemaster" that he put behind bars. Gage hops on a plane and heads to South Carolina, without being asked. Tess first meets him at the scene of the most recent Flamemaster fire and is taken back by his strong, egotistical, superior personality along with his sexual innuendo conversations. But, she is also drawn to him for the same reasons, something that hasn't happened since her fiancé was killed. Add this to the fact that he thinks the new fires are related to the one that killed her fiancé and she finds herself teaming up with him, even when she finds out he isn't still an active ATF agent.
Things are heating up for the pair. When they travel to California to talk to the Flamemaster in jail it gives them the time to be alone together and let their sexual tensions play out. It is also the opportunity for the "Flamemaster" that is in SC to booby-trap Tess's house which causes a huge fire, and destroys her house, when they are back in SC. Tess and Gage are now on a race against time to determine the identity of the "Flamemaster" that is plaguing SC before they kill Tess and more people she cares for, including Gage.
This story so enraptured me that I found myself staying up way past midnight to hear the outcome, which when you have to get up before 6am makes it hard. The initial fire where Tess looses Danny made me tear up and wish for revenge. I thought the characters were all very well developed, even if Gage was a little to unbelievable it worked with the overall story. I didn't guess who the flame master was until the very end, as it was revealed. Great romantic suspense.
Emotional & action packed story ruined by bad ending.......2006-03-28
Still heartbroken from the loss of her fiance two years earlier, fire inspector Tess Gannon gets an unsolicited guest at the scene of her latest case. Burned out ATF agent Gage O'Halloran has arrived in an unofficial capacity at the request of his former partner, since the similarities between a case he put to bed three years ago and a series of arsons in Somersett, South Carolina are a little too coincidental and could be a copycat.
The last thing Tess needs is a federal cowboy mucking up her investigation, but soon the two are working side by side and trying to extinguish their smoldering attraction to each other. They travel to San Quentin, where Randolph Griffith, aka the Flamemaster, is serving a life sentence. He may be able to help them apprehend their copycat. Soon the investigation starts to lead a little too close to home and Tess appears to be at the apex of the copycat Flamemaster's plans for destruction. Can their intense passion lead to a relationship when the investigation is over?
While the story is filled with scorching passion and tension as the two search for the copycat, the implausible ending and unlikely culprit make the story fall flat and ruins an otherwise great action-packed and emotional story, which could have easily garnered 5 stars.
It was almost good...........2006-03-18
I purchased this book based on the other reviews. I was disappointed and give it 2-1/2 stars. I could see some potential but at the end it just left me feeling flat. The hero's backstory is supposedly filled with angst but by the time it's all revealed, the author has talked you out of caring and the hero comes off immature with no real depth. And the heroine - she almost convinces you she's been pining away for a lost love, but not really. There were no "moments" where you felt their attraction - the author just tells you they are attracted to one another in an as abrupt a manner as their first "coupling". It has several false starts of tension. For example: Just when you think there is going to be some sexual tension - is there another guy in the picture? - there isn't any. The hero's potential rival is just mentioned in passing and is never heard from again. Or, if you think you're really going to get into the psyche of the heroine and understand how she feels and why she changed jobs - you don't. Intellectually you understand, but you just don't feel it. All that aside, the thing that really got to me was the totally implausible ending. Puh-leeze. I didn't buy it for a second. Like I said, I saw potential, but it never quite made it. I pass this one on with a shrug.
Good Plot. Great Charachters. ...and very HOT!.......2005-10-05
This was my first JoAnn Ross read, and I loved it! She kept me interested right to the end. And theres lots of steam, so if your anything like me, you'll love it. I can't wait to read more from this great author.

Book Description
Billy was a little boy who "loved horses more than anything else in the world." Imagine how happy he was when he got his very own pony for his birthday! From that day on, Billy was seldom seen without his new friend, Blaze.
Riding through fields and woods, Billy and Blaze learned to trust and understand one another -- and to jump over fences and fallen trees with ease. They were a great team, but were they good enough to win the gleaming silver cup at the Mason Horse Show?
This is the first book in the classic Billy and Blaze series. Sensitive drawings and easy-to-read words capture the warmth and gentle understanding between a boy and his horse.

Just bought for my 50 yr old husband - .......2005-01-31
After all these years, my husband, John still talks about his love of this book. I just ordered the original Billy & Blaze in paperback (collectible) as a Valentine's gift for him. I can't wait to receive it and present it to him on our vacation. It's a 4th pressing of the original, but honestly - - I don't think he would care if it were the 104th. I believe we own our horses still to this day because of this book being in his childhood. How precious is that? Love you darling... Can't wait to see your face! Your K10
Hoofs and Wheels.......2004-04-27
While women generally ride for pleasure to feel the wind and the movement of the horse beneath, a boys ride is different in that it is the power and speed of the ride that are most dear to him in these chariots of fire, the roar of the engine, the hoofs and the noise of the wheels that inspire their thrill. Boys tend to drive either their horses or their cars to see the height of their power, and whether the beauty of black or the silver shine of white, the joy of the command lies in the skill of the rider and the knowledge of his horse, or his engine, a sight that most can appreciate, understand, and admire.

for fun and adventure.
The Billy and Blaze series is great fun. Young boys, even those not interested in horses, will love these books. My 7yo has never had an interest in horses (he thinks they smell bad) but he hangs on to every word of these adventurous stories.
A wonderful, wonderful set of stories..........2000-02-24
I read these books as a little kid... The illustrations are incredibly beautiful and lifelike, and the stories are equally enjoyable. Billy and Blaze's adventures would capture the heart and mind of any child -- or even adult! - with their emotional strength and superb literary quality. I can't recommend these books highly enough... every one of them.
A beautifully written and illustrated children's classic.......1999-07-10
All of the Billy & Blaze stories were among my favorites as a child; I'm so glad they are available again. The illustrations alone make these stories classic children's literature!

Cutting Loose is another sexy romp by Kristin Hardy.
Trish Dawson goes to a masquerade party completely vamped up, looking so different then her usual t-shirt and jeans attire. She meets a masked man who sets her world on fire. When the man is revealed to be the womanizer, movie star Ty Ramsey, Trish bolts.
Trish enthralls Ty, she is so poles apart from his usual women. Trish makes him want more then just another brief fling. Ty hires Trish through her sisters company as his personal assistant.
As they work together, day-by-day their attraction explodes. When Ty reveals he wants more, will Trish run or stay.
I really enjoyed this second book in the Sex and The Supper Club series. Its hot, steamy, funny and emotional. A must read.
Cutting Loose is HOT HOT HOT!!! A Must Read!!.......2004-10-14
Cutting Loose by Kristin Hardy is a great book! Trish, a shy scriptwriter, and Ty, a hot action movie star, are a match made in heaven. Their love story mirrors the scripts they're working on throughout the book. Their passion is HOT HOT HOT! I needed ice cubes while reading this story - which I did in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! I have always liked Ms. Hardy's books and she can't write fast enough for me. The Sex and The Supper Club series is not to be missed!!

oh my stars!.......2004-01-14
What a wonderful approach to parenting! I got this book right after my second child was born it has helped tremendously with my understanding of her personality, preferences and attitudes. The description of her Gemini nature is right on (as it is for my older Scorpio daughter too!) and the insights Chrissie has provided have been invaluable. My husband was a little sceptical at first but now even he uses it as a reference guide!! Thank you Chrissie for the gift of helping us be better, more appropriate parents to our very unique children!!
Well done !.......2003-08-20
A simplified explanation of your baby's attributes based on astrological concepts. an easy to read and understand format that gives you extra insight into your baby's behavior, and also lets you remember more about your childhood. It might be fun to actually talk to your parents about your infancy after you have read this wonderful book. When I read my Scorpio/Aries/Sag attributes, it verified what my parents and grandparents had said about my infancy, and it verifies some of my behaviors as an adult !! As an amateur astrologist, I appreciate how this book takes the multi-facited work of astrology and simplies it for the busy parent, aunt or uncle, teacher, or anyone who wants to know more about babies' behaviors. Children are everyone's future !

This delightful book is truly a guidebook for parents. In it, Ms. Blaze has distilled a great deal of knowledge into a usable form. I wish I had it when my children were small. It fits them perfectly! I'll be giving it to my friends who are expecting babies.
Sentimental journey into my son's childhood.......2003-06-28
I bought this book for my niece who just had her fourth child. Before sending it, I thought I would take a bit of a look-through. Although my son is 33 years old, I looked up his sign and took a little sentimental journey of his childhood. She captured many of his personality traits. Most of her suggestions are the ways that I handled him and he turned out to be an excellent person!

Book Description
When you have a child that doesn't fit in, what do you do? Debra Ginsberg knew that her son, Blaze, was unique from the moment he was born in 1987. What she didn't know was that Blaze's differences would be regarded by the outside world not as gifts, but as impediments to social and academic success. Blaze never crawled. He just got up and walked when he turned one. He called his mother 'Zsa Zsa' until he was three. By kindergarten, he loved the music of Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald. He fears butterflies and is fascinated by garbage trucks. With the same honesty that made Waiting a success, Raising Blaze: Bringing Up an Extraordinary Son in an Ordinary World chronicles Debra's experience in raising a child who has defied definition by the host of professionals who have sought to label his differences. Ginsberg introduces us to a remarkable child and her own unusual childhood. She writes about a family which shows us the redemptive power of faith, humour and love.

The Beat of a Different Drummer.......2006-02-12
What would the world be like if we all didn't want to stand in line, sit on our name at circle time, or refuse to eat sandwiches? I imagine that there would be some chaos in the world, but I don't think that the world would come to an end.
This is the story of a little boy who walked to the beat of a different drummer, and his mother's struggle with the school teachers and personnel to hear the beautiful song that he was playing.
The book gives plenty of insight on what it's like to be Debra, but we don't get much insight on what it's like to be Blaze. Of course, Debra wrote the book so it's only logical that we would know her better. I would have liked to have heard more about Blaze outside of school. What did he like to do at home, what kind of conversations did they have? Most of all, what is he doing now? Is he in high school, or being home-schooled? I'll just have to wait for the sequel.
good book.......2005-08-12
I am not a doctor but from reading this book about Blaze, I suspect his problems are caused by a combination of the breathing problem at birth and thimerisol (mercury) in vaccines given to babies at that time. I tried to email Ms. Ginsberg about this but her web site was down.
For all the children who think Tuesday is blue.......2005-06-02
Our society loves to pigeonhole kids, and the educational system is the worst. My own experiences with public schools led me to home schooling in the 1970s, which makes my mother a pioneer. Back then though people looked at her as though she had just arrived from Mars. I made the leap to private school at twelve. Twenty-one years, three books and a master's in professional writing later, I can see the educational system hasn't gotten any better. In its defense, the US educational system tends to squeeze the life and curiosity out of students and teachers.
Even Debra Ginsberg, who spoke last year at the Palm Springs Writers' Conference, admits that she fell prey to the same blinders people often show towards kids who don't fit the "sit down and be quiet" mold in public schools. (The liberal elite expresses horror at the elitism of private schools while sending their kids to them, and horror at religious schools while ignoring the discipline and respect kids can receive.) She has difficulty with teachers offering diagnoses of "problem kids"---a valid point. but she has sympathy and respect for the teachers themselves. Principals are often portrayed as bad guys, but one principal of Ginsberg's son Blaze's school writes upon retirement:
"It has been a real pleasure to know you and Blaze. I have appreciated the benefits of the positive approach your entire family takesm as each person helps Blaze to grow while making it clear that he is well-loved. You have done a great job of supporting him this year. He is in good hands as a member of your family."
Single-mom waitress Ginsberg has a strong, loving family of eccentrics that make Katharine Hepburn's family (as depicted in "The Aviator") pale in comparison. Coming out of people who think outside the box (and yet know how to work the system), how could Blaze be other than extraordinary? Sure, he doesn't color inside the lines or sit in line, but the overwhelming positive embrace of his abilities and personality in this book shows that there is a place for everyone, even in a world where we can't see past the surface and glibness masquerades as wisdom. Ginsberg offers no excuses for her son; she doesn't ask for any pity or portray herself as a victim. This is not a whining memoir. She shows how her family helps Blaze to grow and to conform in the way that everyone has to ("Go along! Go along! Go Along!" mocks Henry David Thoreau in THE NIGHT THOREAU SPENT IN JAIL) for pleasant social interaction, but she also accepts and acknowledges that Blaze has a right to be different, e,g, not eating sandwiches. So do we all.
There are marvelously funny, poignant moments in this book, and Blaze's poem "Breanna Crying" as well as his songs are not to be missed.
Honest & Courageous.......2005-05-04
This book is a must-read for all moms of "extraordinary" kids everywhere! It is also a great book for family members and teachers of kids on the PDD/Autism spectrum, to help them understand what we go through as moms, and the frequent confusion/uncertainty of any diagnosis.
I was encouraged and inspired by her bravery in standing up to the "system", her willingness to sacrifice for her son, and moved to tears many times by their struggles. I admire her honesty in revealing parts of her life she must have known many would judge or be critical of. The result is a book we can truly relate to, written by a mom who is imperfect (like the rest of us), who simply wants what is best for her son.
Really great view into a quirky autism spectrum family.......2003-10-13
Debra Ginsberg doesn't like labels, that may be the main theme of the book.
I do like lables. I have one, I am autistic, I have another, I have Asperger's syndrome.
I would say that Debra's son probably could get an AS diagnosis and may have one by now. So in spite of her view of labels, I think it's a good book to read if you have AS yourself or have a child with AS.
The descriptions of good, bad, indifferent and truly hideous school district staff and teachers are great. I had forgotten about the power that teachers can have over families and the visciousness that they can dump onto parents and kids. That all came back to me in reading this book. It's post traumatic IEP syndrome. (yes, some teachers are fabulous)
I'm glad she gave such a detailed view of her extended family and I'm very glad that she and Blaze had them for support.
I hope Blaze is doing well.
