Ms. Willard is insightful. Her book is both informative and creative. Definitely a bargain purchase for anyone entertaining the notion of beginning a design firm. It is refreshing to find an author who is stacked and has a creative mind.

Book Description

What is it about extreme surfer John 'Cash' Cashman? Ambitious documentarian Rina Calhoun has filmed risk-taking sports enthusiasts before, but she's never made a private tape of one of these bad boys…. And it turns out the daring, hot movie version's got nothing on the real thing!

But Rina's X-treme documentary is turning into an X-asperating docudrama, since Cash won't sign her release form. No paper from him, no big break for her.

Cash wants to help the fiery little number behind the lens, but he can't because his secret life as a navy SEAL has him deep undercover. Yet as Rina stumbles into the line of fire, all bets are quickly off. He's risking everything to save her. But will it be enough?

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Loved It!.......2007-06-20

I bought this book not expecting much and was really surprised. I love military romance books and this was a good one. The characters were great and I hope there will be books for the other SEALS in this book. There is a book that precedes this one but I have not read it. The only problem I had with the book was in the beginning I was a little confused about some of the heroines family members but it really wasn't important to the story.
Rina is afraid to take risks and she meets the ultimate risk taker Cash, a surfer she wants to use in a documentary she is making. He refuses and they clash. Weeks later she is filming a documentary on Navy SEALS and Cash happens to be one of them.
This is a great story about overcoming your fears and going after what you want.

Book Description

Heather Ingram was one of the most respected teachers at a British Columbia secondary school. Trapped at age 30 in an unhappy relationship, Ingram found herself increasingly drawn to 17-year-old Troy, a rebellious student. Here, in unstinting detail, she describes their passionate relationship of several years duration that had the full support of Troy's family. She reveals the pain of going public, the loss of her job and status in the community, her trial and conviction, and the ten months she spent under house arrest. This frank, moving story offers an intimate look at why a teacher would risk everything and what it means to live as a convicted criminal for engaging in a consensual, if unconventional, relationship.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Well-Written, Deluded.......2006-05-31

Heather Ingram is an eloquent writer. She explains how she had an affair with one of her students very well. However, she downplays the seriousness of her choices: "I'm just a girl who wants to dance with her boyfriend". She also makes the reader uncomfortable with the way she sees her student as a grown man who is ready for a relationship with her. "He does not appear to be shamed by his suspension; (for doing drugs)he looks as if he is beyond high school, beyond trivial rules and punishment." Her writing continues in this fashion, putting a Danielle Steel style spin on a damaging, selfish, irresponsible decision. Ingram's sweet spin becomes quite taxed as she sleeps with a friend of Troy's while he is away. Ditto when Troy is arrested for sexual assault, assault and dealing drugs. She writes about her punishment and probation, seeming to indicate that she does not feel she should be punished at all. "I sit in front of Sue (her house arrest supervisor) my emotions raging and raw but my face impassive". In the end, she seems angry at the society that punished her for having a affair with a student. "Part of me is angry. Why would I want to go back into society - a society I now see as created and perpetuated by people who are predominantly unhappy...?" She also cannot say that she would not do it again, "I would like to say that I would not do it all again if I could relive the past, but given my emotional state at the time I cannot be sure." Heather has recently has Troy's baby, Troy has been charged with possession of cocaine. They are not together anymore. Maybe now her Danielle Steel view of the world has finally matured to accepting her mistakes.

3 out of 5 stars Very sad.......2004-10-19

I read this book in two days, found myself drawn to turn each page and it was definitely a good read, but Ms. Ingram is very sad, despite occasional mentions of her mistakes, she seems to have no remorse. I think it would almost have been buyable as a true love outside age had she not gone and slept (one night stand yet) with another student and friend of the original lover ! Agggh. Keep her away from the kids!

4 out of 5 stars GREAT.......2004-10-05

I think this was an absolutely fantastic book. We, the people, not the accusers finally get an insight of what someone is thinking while commiting a crime over a time period. I loved this book, it was the best one i have read since Lovely Bones.

5 out of 5 stars Risking It All: My Student, My Lover, My Story.......2004-09-18

I have to say I finished this in 1 day. Could not stay away from it. Story is soooo absorbing,
the woman its about is weak, and looking to be accepted but no weaker than a NORMAL woman is about a man (In this cause I use this loosely), but again most normal women have relationshiops with MEN age suitable. Great story, heartbeaking in its truth.
Hat goes off to author for reveiling heartfelt emotoin at the risk os sounding like a fool chasing your own youth. Makes you want them to STILL be together.

1 out of 5 stars Pathetic.......2004-04-22

This book captured my curiosity as I am a highschool teacher myself. There are many stories of professional educators who have thrown their lives and reputations away for temporary trysts with students; the author of this book accomplished both and yet has no insight as to why.

To become a teacher takes at least 5 years and thousands of dollars. It is a gruelling, exhausting endeavor - how could anyone jeopardize so much for so little? Heather Ingram makes no explanation for how a woman of 30 could be attracted to a teenager. Had the boy in question been a straight-A student, champion chess player, brain-surgeon-in-the-making, perhaps one could perhaps understand (not excuse) a potential friendship developing. But this kid was the dunce of the class; a punk whose only hobbies seemed to be getting drunk and stoned and driving his pick-up truck through the mud with his loser friends.

How good a lover can a kid this young be? What on earth do you talk about? Where is your brain, allowing teenage boys to hang-out, drink alcohol, and smoke pot at your house? Heather Ingram didn't just have an affair with this one student; she also slept with his friend! It's about as pathetic and squalid as it gets: teenage boys get to bonk the desperate teacher.

She deserved to have her teaching certificate made void - she is an embarrassment to the profession and makes an already difficult job harder for all the teachers who follow the rules. Most frustrating about this book is its lack of insight, or introspection. Ingram details what happened, but not why it happened. Coming across as decidedly immature and psychologically impaired, Ingram fails to acknowlege how her actions, how her utter lack is discretion, contribute to the overall lack of respect students show for authority. Teaching is a tough job. People like Heather Ingram make it all the more difficult. It is truly appalling that this woman is being congratulated for her "honesty".

This is the world we live in: Make a mess of your life, behave like an amoral fool, turn an entire community upside down, and somehow you are deemed worthy of public forgiveness. You get to write a book about it and make money. You get to be on talk shows. Only in America....

5 out of 5 stars Another superb reading by Kim Hicks.......2004-08-17

Ann Granger's Fran Varady novels take us to the streets of today's London where Fran, a young woman who is constantly struggling to find employment and a place to live, rubs shoulders with friends and foes, tramps, con men, cops, shopowners - and in this case also her dying mother.

This is a shock because her mom walked out on Fran and her dad 14 years before, when Fran was 7 years old, and hadn't been heard from since. Now a sleazy PI finds Fran at her mom's request - and another shock follows when Fran gets to the hospice: Fran has a young half sister. And mom has a dying wish...

Yes, this plunges Fran into a round of encounters with strangers all over town, and a dead body on her doorstep, and worse. Except for the fact that Fran is to her residences roughly what Janet Evanovich's protagonist Stephanie Plum is to her cars (a jinx to put it mildly), this was a satisfying and interesting book.

Kim Hicks is the perfect performer for the Fran Varady books and she's in fine form on this one. Highly recommended.
