One of the best books I've ever read.......2007-06-23

Two things you need to know before reading my review: 1) I love books more than anything living, breathing, and thinking in this world. However, I only like books that are a) written well, and b) have content worth my while. 2) Books only make me cry if I really love them. The characters, the plot, everything. It has to really get me into it. Ok, now we may begin.

I bawled my eyes out during the first book.
I bawled my eyes out during the second book.
I bawled my eyes out during the third book.
I still love all three.

These are the most amazing books I have ever read. They go on my top ten list (there's about a hundred books on my top ten list, just so you are aware of that fact). They are wonderful romance novels, but that's not all there is to them (though it is the most important part!). There is action in them too, and suspense. I highly recommend these. And don't let the title fool you, they aren't religious novels. Read them unless you absolutely MUST have a ridiculously happy ending. And I suggest having access to all three at the same time, because each book ends with a MAJOR cliffhanger. It's really more like one book with three parts :).

Kissed by an angel was the PERFECT BOOK. I don't think I've ever read such an amzing book. It kept me entertained for so long, but at the same time it taught me important life lessons- live life with no regrets, mean it when you say I love you, and so much more. Elizabeth Chandler is so amazing- reading this book was like watching a movie. It put clear pictures in my head and kept me anxious to read more. I couldn't read this book before bed, if I did I know I'd stay up all night reading it. I wish all books were as good as this one- I just want to read it over and over and over! I'M TELLING YOU. BUY THIS BOOK. READ IT. BE HAPPY.

This book was great. Rarely do I cry while reading books, but during this book, or books, I cried my heart out. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. There was drama, some comedy, and the best of all Romance. It also had myster and such, it was like all my favortie genre's in one. If you are thinking of buying it, do so. I recomend this book if you enjoy sad romance. The plot is wonderful. It keeps you reading 'till the end, and it is one of the books that you will want to read over and over. I have read it up to three times already, and that means something, 'cause I won't read a book again unless it is really good.

i thought Kissed by an Angel was the best book i've EVER read. honestly, i couldn't believe that i could find a book this good. i absolutely loved it. ivy and tristan were soo cute together and i loved how they got together. Elizabeth Chandler is one of my favorite authors because her writing is soo realistic. she is really talented and i wish that i knew more about her and the other books. i also LOVE her dark secrets series.

ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!.......2001-11-09

I'm not a teenager but close enough, this story was so beautiful, it was so touching. I'm serious, I just finished the trilogy in 5 days and it was so beautiful, it almost made me cry. I loved it, though I didn't really like the ending, sorry. I think its sad at the end, well, at least for Lacey I thought it was sad. I want to find out what happens to her, besides that I loved it all! 5 stars.

I just finished the trilogy...it was the BEST ever. I proimse... If you are a teenager you HAVE to read this book...I'm not kidding...It was the best. It actually made me cry in some parts (and I hardly every cry). It was so sad, but in the end it wasn't. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!

While this is a wonderful completion of the trilogy it doesn't quite merit 5 stars. This book seemed to drag out the subject a little bit longer then necessary. All in all though, the Kissed By An Angel trilogy is a wonderful set of books, a joy to read, and very inspiring.

Fab Book!.......2005-01-24

This was an awesome book! It's so dramatic and moving and suspensful! I could not put any of these three books down! Elizabteh Chandler draws you into the story of Ivy and Tristan and almost makes you feel apart of the story! I cried over 7 times during this whole book! I HIGHLY suggest it for someone who enjoys romance and suspense!

this book has a thrilling and a semi comical sense to it. it's one of those "i just can't put this book down" books. it is filled with mystery and thrill through out the whole book. as you read this book the plot thickens. make sure you read the first one (Kissed by an Angel)first because you would be lost.

This book is so great. i found it at a threft store. I loved it. If u have never read it u are missing out. It makes u believe that all love is eternal. even after death!! I give Power of Love 5 stars. No make that 10!

I think this book is the best book that I have ever read in my life . I loved this book so mouch that I have read it about ten times scince I was able to get my hands on it. whenever I have any free time I find myself reading the book. No matter how many times I read this book I am still findig new, and more intresting stuff that I never read before, and every time I read it I understand why he did what he did. All in all I would have to say that this book is the best in the world, and if your like me, and you love ramance then you will love this book. Oh! I also think that this book should be a movie it would be souch a good movie, if thay didn't chang any of the lines, or any of the book. They should leave it just the way it is, and that way the movie would be as good as, or even better than the book.

I love this book. I havent read the whole book just yet, but i am hooked! This book is very recommendable for teens. I am definitly going to read Kissed By An Angel-The Power Of Love, that is, after i get finished reading this one.

We all have grievances with ourselves, don't we? We all have birthmarks, whether concealed or visible, psychological or physical. Orlagh Emmet certainly does. Orlagh being the protagonist of the novel, `Kissed By The Angels'. A narrative, which, in one hundred and fifty thousand words transports the reader on an inspiring odyssey, which journeys through the valleys of Orlagh's trials and over the mountains of her tribulations. One witnesses her fervent spirit, which has been strengthened by a myriad of mentors, both celestial and mortal, prevail in the ominous face of adversity, which invariably encounters her each day, as she makes her pilgrimage through life - being different.

We initially meet Orlagh Emmet while she is encapsulated within the arms of the carefree ambience of her devoted Irish family, unaware of the inauspicious presence of the port-wine coloured birthmark, which is situated on her right cheek, chin and neck. Desperately wishing to emulate her elder brothers, Orlagh is overwhelmed with excitement at the mere thought of starting school. Unfortunately, upon entering the classroom her dream day is expeditiously devastated when she experiences hostility towards her markings in the form of taunts from a corpulent boy. Subsequently a fracas ensues. The altercation provokes the reviling boy to proclaim, `You've had it, Ribena Face'. These were the final words uttered to Orlagh, at the end of her first day of school. Confounded and anxious Orlagh's enthusiasm was obliterated. Despite not informing her parents of the unfortunate incident, due to her uncharacteristic, melancholic demeanour they suspected that adverse attention had been drawn to her birthmark. That evening her father, a proficient raconteur, enlightened Orlagh, in his mesmerising Irish manner as to why her markings existed. On the evening of her birth, while she lay in the crib next to her mother, a golden ray of light appeared from the ceiling. Out of that lambent light five tiny cherubs emerged, each one kissing her face and bestowing upon her the honour of being one of God's chosen few; and thus left upon her a port-wine coloured birthmark, so they could differentiate her from the rest. A year or so passes until Orlagh witnesses these pious beings for herself. While undergoing cryotherapy treatment in an attempt to remove her birthmark, they appear to her. From that time on the angels continue to sporadically surface, each time metamorphosed into an unlikely angelic form and invariably under different circumstances. At each apparition the angels relay an enigmatic snippet of philosophical information, which she has to decipher and analyse in order to aid her out of the dilemma she is encountering and consequently lead to the discovery of her divine destiny. Plato, Socrates, the bible, Saint Patrick, Saint Columb, Tao te Ching, and many more are applied to assist in her destiny discovery. All of the virtuous information is locked away in her subliminal memory until the time arises when she needs to open that locked box full of infinite knowledge and use it to her advantage, although primarily she must find the key. Orlagh battles through the anguish of adolescence, metaphorically and in substance. Battling in the figurative sense by overcoming the pain while enduring numerous treatments to eliminate her birthmark, from cryotherapy to radiotherapy and onto laser treatment, and battling in actuality when she finds solace in the sanctuary of her father's boxing club, where her frustrations are pounded away and her dreams and desires contrived. The boxing gym introduces many unforgettable and loveable characters. Most notably, the comely, Emmet O'Malley, who upon joining the boxing club from Ireland immediately becomes, what she considers as her unobtainable love interest. One observes their relationship develop into an inseparable bond. Orlagh's first bra, first boyfriend, first kiss and any other supplementary information which can be obtained, are all experienced under the scrutiny of her beloved boxing brotherhood. She entertainingly endeavours to find the balance between upholding her tom-boyish status, and for the benefit of Emmet, retaining her femininity. The noble art of pugilism is entertainingly explored and demonstrated as we follow the progress of some of her father's boxers, most prominently, Orlagh's brothers, Emmet O'Malley, and, Orlagh herself. Other than the obvious attainment of physical strength and fitness the boxing gym is another essential vehicle for Orlagh on the road to the acquisition of ultimate mental strength. The boxing gym also exhibits the amicable integration of the multicultural working-class society of late twentieth century England. One can obtain a sense of each specific time period through references directed at: sweets, toys, music and fashion popular within which ever particular decade the story is involved; which in `Kissed By The Angels' are the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's - striking a nostalgic chord in the reader's mind.

`Kissed By The Angels' is a unique coming-of-age novel with a spiritual, inspirational and intellectual edge. If prospective readers experience grievances of their own, they can remove Orlagh's problems and replace them with their own difficulties, and discover help, empathy and support within the pages of `Kissed By The Angels'.

Well what can I say - right from the first chapter I thought that "Kissed by the Angels" was a fantastic read! Orlagh's story was inspirational, thought provoking and indeed motivational. The way that she always seemed to take everything in her stride is a lesson for us all. I laughed and cried as I shared in Orlagh's experiences.

Sophie's descriptive and imaginative style of writing had me hooked and I couldn't put the book down. I am glad that I found this book and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to the next one.

Sophie Martin Canning's book, "Kissed By The Angels" is an exquisite work of art and a most beautiful gift to all those who wisely choose to buy it. It is a story about the indomitable, courageous spirit of the book's lovable young heroine, Orlagh Emmet, as she endures and overcomes the prejudices and humiliation that a facial birthmark inflicts. It is a story depicting unconditional love, family unity, triumph over adversity, passion and the extraordinary strength of the human spirit.

Sophie brings her colourful and vibrant characters to life, allowing us to take them into our hearts and forget they are the fictitious and ingenious creation of an incredibly talented writer. We are transported into Orlagh's world and we never want to leave it.

Sophie injects a golden thread of unparalleled humour throughout the book in the guise of characters such as dear old eccentric Nanna Bridie and jolly, genial Rory.
