Outstanding reference.......2002-01-14
An outstanding reference for stewardship work. This book explores the role of money in the parish, why it's so difficult to talk about, and what needs to change.
A must for people who want to understand stewardship.......1999-06-13
A very good and comprehensive review of where stewardship in the church is in the last ten years. This will take you through motivation, understanding, and give you insights into how to resolve your stewardship dilemas. People who are strugling with stewardship will find this book most informative and helpful. You may not like all that is said but all needs to be said and thought about. Most thought provoking and insightful.
The last stewardship book you'll buy!.......1999-02-13
Without a doubt, this is THE best stewardship book I've ever read! Like you, I've endured many a stewardship campaign, technique, and gimmick--only to find it unsatisfying, ultimately. This book examines everything that has been done under the sun in stewardship (be it mainline Protestant, evangelical Protestant, or Roman Catholic), and discusses, rationally, why it is counterproductive in the long run. While it is a big book and does discuss research, it is easily accessible to all. Interestingly enough, I found it hard to put down--it is that good! Buy this one now.

mystery and murder.......2005-11-07
Young Aurora is not prepared for the rigors of Saint Philomena's Academy, which includes perplexing rules and sadistic discipline. Yet she soon makes friends and finds herself bonding with them over the often odd, and always bewildering ways of the nuns. As she matures, she finds herself on her own when it comes to dealing with sex and deciphering the other gender. She certainly can't ask her mother, who has long since moved out or her distant father. Nor can she ask her superior older sister, and her friends are just as confused as she is. When events at the Academy take a darker side, she must use all her wits to escape the pull of the school and grow into a sane young women.
Growing Up with Aurora.......2001-07-10
Patzi Raven, in Behind the Stained-Glass Window, weaves a wonderful tale of a young girl growing up in the repressive environment of a convent boarding school. While maintaining a sense of humor, she paints a frightening picture of the cruelty that was a part and parcel of the catholic educational system, hopefully a part of a bygone era. Ms. Raven skillfully draws the reader into the tale and makes him or her a co-conspirator of Aurora's as she strives to maintain her sanity in an insane institution. Be warned: once you pick this book up you won't want to put it down. It is a must-read for Catholics trying to come to grips with the guilt and uncertainty rising from the teachings of their youth and for the non-Catholics trying to understand it all.
Great "coming of age" story!.......2001-07-01
This book was a gift to me and I loved every page of it!! It's delightfully written, easy to read style helps you to hang on every word through humor and suspense. I missed the characters when the book ended! It doesn't get any better than that!
Good Movie Material.......2000-07-30
Really enjoyed "Behind the Stained-Glass Window". After reading this book, you can understand why it is #3 at Boston College. I'm looking forward to Ms. Raven's next book.
This book would make a great movie.
Critique of "Behind The Stained Glass Windo".......2000-06-08
This book was well written but even more it caught my interest very quickly. I was then unable to put the book down. I found the behind scenes of a catholic boarding school very interesting.
